The words you use to express yourself are the seeds of your future experiences. It’s simple: if you think negatively, you’ll fail; if you think positively you’ll succeed. Of course, sometimes, you will have negative thoughts coming into your mind. But some some of them may come from deeper. However, deeply ingrained beliefs or attitudes can be uprooted and changed by using the power of positive thought and words. A big step on your path to excellence is to become aware of how to use positive thinking to create change. A successful mind is a positive mind.

The universal rule is: negative thoughts create mental and physical resistances that greatly hinder your performance. Try the following test: hold your arm out straight, while a friend tries to push it down. Resist the pressure as you say out loud, ” I love my sport,” over and over. Now change the phrase to “I hate my sport,” and compare the strength you experience. Notice how much stronger you are, and how much better your performance is when you say, “I love”, – a positive thought pattern. Imagine the implications for your performance when you repeatedly say that you hate practice, running, or physical training … etc. Simply changing the statements to “I love” will provide you with more physical strength and energy, resulting in a more powerful and consistent performance. Just start trying to identify some things about what you hate or dislike that you can “love” and focus on those.

Positive attitude and thought are conveyed to you mind and body through the language of affirmation. Strong positive statements will make firm what is already true or has the potential to become true. Since your achievement is a reflection of your images, and your images follow from your thought and words, it will always pay to construct a language of affirmation that complement the positive pathways of the rest of your training. By doing so you replace negative inner chatter and counterproductive mental tapes with fresh, clear and vey helpful inner talk that will lead you to success.
