Less is more. Most of your best performances will come when things will be kept very simple: simple routines, simple strategies, simple training program … etc. Simplicity is one of the keys to excellence – it is freedom – freedom to focus, freedom to concentrate, and be totally present during your performance.

The problem with complexity is that it creates not only distraction but pressure, anxiety and tension. Performance is hindered. In times of difficulty, stress, and turmoil, or when things seem to slip backward, become simple. Avoid the tendency to overcompensate in a slump. Go back to basics.

When things get out of hand, simplify!

To get back in touch with simplicity, ask yourself these questions: Why do I like my sport? Why did I choose this tournament, this event? Once you are aware of this basics, be open to anything that will add to your performance as an athlete, and place aside all that will complicate the way. See yourself performing excellently, with lighteness and freedom. Focus on doing, on the action. Be present and ask the question: How much do I really need? See yourself shedding unecessary externals. Focus on the excellence of play. Feel the freedom that accompanies simplicity.
