Notice fear, instead of running from it! Stop and notice what it is to be with the fear. If you stay with fear, it becomes a vehicle for growth and improvements. Our problems derive from our reactions to fear. You may be afraid, but if you stay with it, examine it, go into it, it transforms. So fear is the most powerful vehicle of enabling transformation that we have. Use fear rather than escaping from it. It’s not the fear itself that causes problem, and negative thoughts; it’s the way we react to it, because fear can be creative too. Fear is juicy, but problems occur when we react to fear by tension, contraction, resistance. When we move through that fear and its resulting tension we discover courage, which is being or acting in spite of or beyond fear. It has the quality of expansion rather than constriction.

What to do? Recognize – Our minds contain not-yet-recognized influences from our past experience, events of our childhood and our pressure of our culture. They are like “shadow” –  hidden drives, both constructive and destructive. Much of the unhealthy content of the shadow derives from the residue of our life’s distresses and is the source of our doubts, lack of confidence, fears and other self-centered drives. It is the cause of both our internal discontent and the consequent dishamorny we impress on the world. If you recognise repetitive patterns of behavior, you may become aware of your hidden emotions. Then, when you witness your inner self and discover the sources of these tensions, you are able to make healthier choice. This awareness allows constructive release of mind pain and is a critical component of your personal growth.
