Dr Jim Loehr proposed a 4 steps routine, PRPR

  1. Positive Physical Response. 3-5 seconds.  Words of encouragement and body tall, racket to non-dominant hand.
  2. Relaxation Response. 6-15 seconds.  Keep your feet moving, calming words, eyes on the string of the racket.
  3. Preparation Response. 3- 5 seconds. Looking full of confidence to the oponent at the baseline ready to serve and return. Decide where you are going to serve or return.
  4. Ritual Automatic Response. 5-8 seconds.  No talk.  Doing your serve or return routine.  At this point you are on automatic pilot.
