deep breath

Throughout the course of a game, you will go through a spectrum of emotions. You probably find it difficult to stay on an even mindset, to avoid getting too high or too low.

By using your deep breath as a way to come back to your center, to your heart, as a balance point – you can ensure that you will never stray too far from your center. Your deep breath will bring you back to the moment. It will remind you that you must keep your emotions in check by staying grounded at all times. Your deep breath will also serve as a constant for you to return to when you feel the pull of emotion trying to take you off course.

When you lose your concentration or become angry and begin to “wobble” from your balance point, there are two paths you can take:

1) you can continue to “spend” your energy, your focus, on the lingering effects of frustration or disappointment, or,

2) you can let go of the situation and find, create your focus for the next action, the next point.

Learning how to let go of difficult situations and gather your focus, rather than spend it on negative energy  – that is already in the past – will allow you to stay balanced and focused.
